Penny Winter trained in costume making at the Royal Shakespeare Company and the English National Opera. She starded her own design label 12 years ago and together with Belgian husband owns Ngong House, where she has her heavenly boutique. Penny creates bespoke clothing for international guests and the Kenyan jet set alike - her clothes have adorned Erin O'Connor, Princess Caroline of Monaco, Trudy Styler and Racheal Weisz in “The Constant Gardener”. Using fabrics such as Irish linen, Indian printed silk, leather and her own hand loomed fabrics, Penny’s inspiration ranges from period costume to the African sub-continent. She is specifically known for her custom made corsets, intricate finishing, and the signature Audrey coat. Combining the old, the new and the unfamiliar a typical piece may be a fusion of calfskin, rabbit fur and vintage trim - the cross cultural references add to the potent mix.
